Everybody loves Starbucks – we all know this! It is also no secret that the beverages are rather expensive, so we have come up with fives ways to value-add your purchase at Starbucks.
Keeping in mind our motive to add value to your spending, we came up with five ways to modify certain existing beverages to make them more delicious. A couple of them on our list are also pretty good beverages that are not commonly ordered and we think you should know about them.
However, you should know this first: as with all good things, the extra ingredients that we recommend and are not part of the original recipe come with a slight premium to pay.
There you go, in no particular order:
1. Espresso Frappuccino + Java Chips
Espresso Frappuccino is probably one of the most underrated beverages – not sure why many people don’t order it. It is good for keeping you awake because on top of the coffee used for Frappuccinos, this one comes with an extra shot of espresso in it. The intensity of espresso is evident in it, yet the whole beverage does not come bitter. You can add on a bit of magic by having java chips in it! The chocolate chips and espresso flavours come together very well!
Tall: $6.40 + $0.70 (java chips) = $7.10
Grande: $7.30 + $0.70 (java chips) = $8.00
Venti: $8.10 + $0.70 (java chips) = $8.80
2. Signature Iced Chocolate + Espresso + Raspberry Syrup
This is somewhat a re-creation of a promotional beverage Starbucks had – raspberry mocha. Put raspberry, chocolate, and coffee together and it comes out like black forest cake with the caffeine kick!
You don’t get the raspberry whipped cream and truffle sauce in our re-creation but the beverage tastes similar, and we might say: more delicious.
Tall: $6.60 + $0.70 (raspberry syrup) + $0.80 (espresso) = $8.10
Grande: $7.20 + $0.70 (raspberry syrup) + $0.80 (espresso) = $8.70
Venti: $7.70 + $0.70 (raspberry syrup) + $0.80 (espresso) = $9.20
3. Iced Chai Tea Latte + Chocolate Drizzle
This is one for chai lovers! The milk chocolate complements the spicy notes of chai very well. However, do not go overboard with the chocolate drizzle, otherwise the chocolate may overpower the flavours of chai. Simply ask your barista to include 3-4 rounds of chocolate drizzle around the upper rim of the cup – this should suffice.
Tall: $6.00 + $0.70 (chocolate drizzle) = $6.70
Grande: $6.60 + $0.70 (chocolate drizzle) = $7.30
Venti: $7.10 + $0.70 (chocolate drizzle) = $7.80
4. Iced Chamomile Tea + Classic Syrup + Lemonade
This is basically Iced Shaken Tea Lemonades that are available on the menu, but instead of using the tea options (hibiscus, green, and black teas) available, you request for chamomile tea to be in it. Do take note that this one requires you to purchase two beverages: an iced chamomile tea and an iced shaken tea lemonade.
The gentle floral notes of chamomile go very well with lemonade. Very refreshing for summer!
Tall: $5.50 (iced shaken tea) + $4.50 (chamomile tea) + $0.70 (classic syrup) = $10.70
Grande: $6.10 (iced shaken tea) + $4.50 (chamomile tea) + $0.70 (classic syrup) = $11.30
Venti: $6.60 (iced shaken tea) + $4.50 (chamomile tea) + $0.70 (classic syrup) = $11.80
5. Raspberry Blackcurrent Frappuccino + Earl grey Tea
The standard recipe for Raspberry Blackcurrent Frappuccino comes with green tea, so you would have to order an earl grey tea separately and request for it to be blended with the raspberry blackcurrent concentrate. Earl grey tea and berries are complementary flavours. This should totally be on the menu already!
The recipe actually doesn't require that much of earl grey tea; the remaining earl grey tea still makes for a substantial cup so you bring away two beverages!
Tall: $6.40 + $4.50 (earl grey tea) = $10.90
Grande: $7.30 + $4.50 (earl grey tea) = $11.80
Venti: $8.10 + $4.50 (earl grey tea) = $12.60
The prices are updated as of June 2018.
